It's an open park in Melide on the shore of Lake Lugano. Therefore it's good for a combined visit.
My first visit was as a small kid (long time ago), so I decided to refresh my memory. One Saturday, when a friend and I wanted to spend as sunny day in Ticino, we bought special SBB tickets that included a reduction of the entrance fee, took the train to Lugano and then the local train to Melide. The weather was great and we were in a good mood.
The park is not big and you'll be done in approx 2-3 hours. Many of the known sites and attractions of Switzerland are presented in small scale but highly designed models. I am pretty sure kids love seeing the trains going back and forth and all around, little boats and cars, etc. ...we enjoyed it.
Conclusion:
It's a bit run-down and not cheap, but a nice experience (especially with kids). Even we, living in Switzerland, discovered some new places to discovered in real; and we had fun making a game out of guessing the different towns, buildings, places, etc.
All in all a worthwhile educational visit for all.
TIP:
As the entrance fee is quite expensive you should watch out for special offers such as
- TCS (=ADAC or AAA)
- SBB (Swiss railway)
