Hotel Francisco I (Madrid, Spain)

Central location, new rooms - great value for Money

Positive:

• Best location for a city trip
• Room was excellent and much better than for a 2* hotel (safe, minibar, hair dryer, TV, air condition, etc.)
• The room and the public areas were very clean
• Free Wifi
• VERY positive: the bathroom in the public area was well equipped and big enough to use as changing room.
• Vending machine and Ccoffee machine available in public area

  

 

Negative:

• Breakfast was ok, but very simple; not much choice (BUT the optional coffee machine made good coffee)
• Before booking it was clear to me that it will be a bit noisier as the hotel is at one of the main pedestrian areas
  -> this was ok and actually not that bad, though I had a room on the 1st floor;
• NOT ok on the other hand was the noise in the hotel. At night when people came back it was often very loud.
• Some staff members at the reception were not very friendly, but in general everyone was helpful.

 

Other:

The first night I had to spend at another hotel (approx.5-10min. walk away) as the air condition didn't work. Everything was arranged and a room at a 4star hotel booked.
Funnily my room at the 2* hotel was much better than the room at the* hotel.
